The first event for our summer holiday events was at Brereton Lake on Tuesday 25th July. Having all met in the car park at midday we settled down in front of the lake to chat and munch our lunch. All who turned up had brought their own food and it wasn’t long before it was all gone.
We all then wandered to a slightly bigger (and flatter) area to see if we could use up some calories. Prior to the event a selection of sporting equipment was bought for the kids to use and Frisbee’s & footballs were soon flying around and a game of giant snakes & ladders being played. Next up on the agenda was a game of rounders which was enjoyed by all although it should probably be said we need to look up the correct rules of the game for next time.
So with both the kids and adults quite worn out we all wandered back to the car park stopping off at the Ice cream van. Here everyone was treated to an ice cream (courtesy of the groups fund raising). It was a great trip out with lovely weather and all agreed this much needed trip was a brilliant start to the holiday events.
The next picnic of the holidays is at Roker Park, 129 Carlton Rd, Northwich CW9 5PG, 12.30 – 3.30pm on Thursday 10th August. Parking is free around the park. Bring your own food and drink and a rug to sit on and we will bring the games. The cafe may be open subject to weather. Meet by the tennis courts at 12.30. We aim to be sitting down to munch our lunch at around 1pm.
